NELSON, WILLIAM HOWARD, JR., age 79, of Hueytown, AL passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 2, 2009 after a brief illness.

He served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman. He also served as a Volunteer Fireman in Hueytown for many years.

He was a Deacon and member at Viveland Park Baptist Church for many years and was most currently a member of Hueytown Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mossie Jo Lee Nelson; son, Jeffrey Nelson; daughter, Kari Jan Nelson; and his parents, William H. Nelson, Sr. and Hallie P. Nelson.

He is survived by daughters, Katrina (Bill) McLaughlin and Sheila Luther; granddaughter, Julie Luther; grandsons, Patrick and Ryan McLaughlin; brother, Bobby (Lena) Nelson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 3 until 5 p.m. at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home, Hueytown. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial to follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Rev. Frank Sims and Rev. Terry DeFoor will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Hueytown Baptist Church.
