Mr. L. D. Burgess was born June 5, 1923 in Beckville, Texas. He was one of six children born to the marriage of William Dave and Mellie V. Donald Burgess. L. D. served his country through the U. S. Army during WWII. He married Hazel Marie Atwood who preceded him in death in 2004. Mr. Burgess worked as a railroad switcher for the Santa Fe Railway. He loved the outdoors and fishing. Mr. Burgess is also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James, Billy, Travis, and Candy Burgess, sister, Mae Cherry and a son, Lawrence Kent Burgess.
