Marion A. Crawford, 70, of 4886 Tee Court S.W., a retired IBM employee and was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, died of cancer Monday afternoon (May 30, 1994) at his home.
He was born April 2, 1924, in Johnson City, N.Y., graduated from high school in Endicott N.Y., and served in the Air Force for four years during World War II in the European and Pacific theaters. On July 23, 1949, he married Janet E. Miller in Endicott, N.Y. Mr. Crawford retired from IBM on March 1, 1990, after 43 years of service. An avid boater and active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary since 1970, he served as district commodore for the 2nd District Northern Region from 1979-1980, coordinated the safety patrol effort for President Carter's cruise on the Mississippi River aboard the Delta Queen in 1979, and served on the national auxiliary staff as division chief of information systems and as national commodore aide for special projects.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Barry R. of St. Paul, and Brian J. and Scott G., both of Rochester; a daughter, Lori K. Crawford of Rochester; five grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Carosella and Sharon Dellapenta, both of Endicott; and four brothers, Raymond of Endicott, William of Vestal, N.Y., Merton of Cape Canaveral, Fla., and Maj. Truman of Washington, D.C. A daughter, two brothers and a granddaughter preceded him in death.
A private family memorial service will be conducted later this week.
