Confederate Veteran of Co. C. 29th Mississippi Infantry, C.S.A. Received a Confederate Pension from the State of Arkansas, #6938.Civil War service (1862-1865): Henry enlisted in the CSA 29th Mississippi Infantry Regt., Co. C, (Panola Patriots) in May 1862 at Batesville, MS. (Widow's pension application shows enlistment at Grenada, MS.) His regimental commander was Colonel Edward C. Walthall. His company commander was Captain T. F. Wilson. His home was near Como, Panola Co, MS.

Henry A. Jones was captured at the Battle of Chickamauga (Georgia) on September 20, 1863; he was held prisoner at Camp Douglas (Chicago) until paroled in mid-1865. Upon release from the camp, his left foot was run over by a railroad car. He was discharged on June 13, 1865,; the Oath of Amnesty document of June 18, 1865 shows the following information about Henry A. Jones:
