Born in Lynn, Mass., son of Thurlow and Ethel Benson Dunning Sr.
After 30 years of service in the U.S.Army, he retired in 1995. Served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam, rec'd Bronze Star w/Oak Leaf cluster; one of 200 American soldiers awarded the South Vietnamese Ranger Badge for his service.
Founding officer of the 76th Division Training Command Assoc. based in Lewiston.
