Douglas County Herald, Thurs., March 12, 1942--T. J. Freeman, 69, of Dora, Died Saturday, Widely Known Farmer Is Victim of Pneumonia--Services Held Monday. Funeral services were conducted at the Sweeton church north of Dora, Monday afternoon for Thomas J. Freeman, 69, who died at his home near Dora Saturday, following an illness of about fifteen days from pneumonia fever. Services were conducted by the Rev. Hart of Mountain Grove, and by members of the Masonic lodge, of which he was a member. Mr. Freeman was a lifelong resident of Douglas County, having been born at Buckhart on March 2, 1873, son of Ben and Lucy Sweeton-Freeman. He had been a prominent farmer of the Dora community for many years, and also spent considerable time working in the timber industry, operating saw mills in the production of pine lumber. He became widely known throughout this section in his activities operating a threshing machine over a large territory for the past several years. On April 27, 1897, he was married to Cora Belle Franklin of Mountain Grove, and to this marriage five children survive, Emma Miller, Endicott, Washington; Nola Pendergrass, Trail, Mo.; Eli Freeman, Colfax, Washington; Chas. Freeman, Dora, Mo.; and Arthur Freeman, Newport, Washington. Also surviving are his wife, two brothers John and Wake Freeman both of Dora, and two sisters, Dicie Bell, Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Victor Dawson, Van Buren, Missouri. He was a member of the Christian church.
