Mrs. Moorefield passed away on October 15, 2014, at Adams Farm Living and Rehabilitation in Jamestown, NC. Funeral services will be at Spring Garden Friends Meeting; graveside will be at Guilford Memorial Park at Sedgefield. Dorothy Lily Mae Brewer was born August 21, 1924, in Greensboro to Turner & Mabel Brewer. She was the middle child between two siblings, W.T. and Jack Brewer. On September 1, 1948, she married Joe Moorefield. They had their first child, Steve Moorefield, in 1949. It was around 1955 that her husband went into the ministry and thus began a 44-year journey of pastoring with the North Carolina Yearly Meeting of Friends. In 1957 they had their second child, Sharen Moorefield. Joe and Dot Moorefield served together in ministry until his death in 1999. During the time leading up to her death she continued to be a great strength for her family. Dot is survived by her two children, Steve Moorefield and Sharen Scarborough; grandchildren, Amanda Moorefield Branning and Matthew Scarborough; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews; and a special cousin, Joanne Suits.
