She was born in San Jose, Calif., on July 17, 1962, to her late parents, Patricia Ann (Garey) and Patsy Kuntz McElfresh.

Shari had been a bus driver for Phoenix Central Schools and for Oswego County Opportunities for many years.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. with a 4 p.m. funeral service all in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., (County Route 57), Phoenix

In life it's with seeming rarity that we are privileged to meet those few people who truly shine, that genuinely care about others in such a way that you feel as if you're more than simply friends and being with even briefly can brighten your outlook on things. These are the people who stand out by being happy, friendly, honest, beautiful souls; not trying to stick out but by their very nature do.
Without a doubt Shari was one of these rare wonderful folks. It seemed like she never met a stranger, but that there were some people whom she just hadn't had a chance to visit with yet. She would walk into a room, broad smile and often that infectious laugh, and instantly brightened the room. She would say what she thought, listen to what everyone had to say, freely give hugs if she thought you needed it; "sweetie" and "honey" were frequently heard and you never got the feeling she was flippant in her use of them.
Shari loved her family, her friends, and was in turn a favorite of people who were lucky enough to know her.
