Sion Pierce was born near Raleigh NC 15 Feb 1816 died at the home of his son, Tilman Pierce 4 Dec 1902 being 86 years 9 months and 21 days old. When 14 years of age Mr. Pierce moved with his parents to Indiana.(1830) In 1870 he moved to Illinois where he lived for 4 years. He then came to Iowa and since 1875 has been resident of Guthrie county.
Father Pierce professed saving faith in Christ years ago and for the last 12 years has been a member of the Wesleyan church. He died triumphant in a living faith and of him as of one of old it may be said "He died in a good old age, an old man and full of years and was gathered to his people." Funeral services held from the residence conducted by Rev. Whitehead. Interment in the Wichita cemetery. Guthrian Dec 11, 1902
