Born February 23, 1918, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; d. November 22, 2007, age 89, Unionville, Ontario, Canada5; m. Earl Horace Barnett June 15, 1943, in the Pape Avenue Gospel Hall in Toronto, Ontario, Canada1/4/8; son of Horace Fray Barnett5 and Violet Johnson; b. May 18, 1909, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; d. July 27, 1983, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, of a stroke suffered from the previous year.4

Jeannette was 2 when her parents took her to England onboard the S.S. Sicilian from Montreal on July 2, 19202/3, to Liverpool. A next year they went again and returned onboard the S.S. Empress of France in September 1921.2

She grew up in Toronto. She visited her Montreal cousins In the winter of 1924 and they all went sledding. She also accompanied them to Ocean Park, Maine summer of 1937.3

Early on Earl worked for T. Eaton Co. in the Parceling Department. He later was a salesclerk in the office for 9 years. Two sons took over Earl's Garage Supply Co. Ltd. in adulthood. There were stores in Orillia and Midland, Ontario.

They resided at 714-4001 Bayview Avenue, Willowdale, Ontario and raised 4 sons and 1 daughter. Earl and Jeannette raised Earl's son from his 1st marriage, James, in their household.5

Earl served as Deacon in the Christian Assembly for 37 years. They both were very active in their Gospel Hall. This is where her father and sister Ruth also attended.

"We go to Bible Reading & Prayer meeting nearly every week. Missionary class one day a month & bring things home to do. … Earl has a lot of responsibilities at the meeting which keeps the telephone & typewrite on the go."

"Every week we seem to have 2 of the family in at different times. This week we had Alex, Linda, Gregory 3-1/2 & Ryan. 2 on Monday for lunch & afternoon. They are so sweet. … David came for supper as Sharon works Monday nights & he put a shelving unit together for me. … Liz & Wayne came Friday night for supper & Elizabeth & I were going to a shower together. … We went out to Elizabeth's place to see their new dining room set that they just got on Monday night. They were all excited. They have a small room, so they got a pine set. A round table & 4 chairs & small buffet. … Doug & Darlene are kept busy as they had another son Sean Alexander June 28th. So that is 3 sons for them & 6 grandsons for us. Aaron is 3, Jason is 2, & Sean 6 months. Darlene does very well as Douglas has a long day. They have had sickness just lately & it goes hard on them. Well, I remember those days. Couldn't do it now."

They liked to travel. In 1968 they visited the Maritimes area of Eastern Canada. They took her father along with them.4 "1968 August 22 – The M. V. William Carson (ocean liner) en-route to Sidney, Nova Scotia from Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, Canada. We have been to Newfoundland and just now we are crossing back to Sydney, N.S., Then we go on to see Prince Edward Island. Then we will be making tracks for home. We are just starting our 3rd week. Had one bad day – fog & rain so that is pretty good. Earl, Jeannette, David & Elizabeth are with me. We have the car. Every once and a while we stop to take pictures. All are keeping well and trust this will find you enjoying the same. Alex"

In September 1971 they visited Iceland.4 "1971 September 13 – Monday - Gljufrabui waterfall near the south coast of Iceland. Hello to you all. We are now on flight from the north part of Iceland. We are having beautiful weather and on a tour each day so far. Iceland has so much to offer scenery wise. It is so interesting. It has mountains,, lakes, geysers, hot springs, volcanoes and many beautiful waterfalls, glaciers. It is a very busy place. We met with the Christians yesterday. They are very small but enjoyed the Fellowship. Hope you have had a good summer after that long winter. Cheerio. Bless as the Icelander says Earl & Jeannette"

Summer 1974 and they had a whirlwind trip to Alaska, then to Prince Rupert, Nanaimo and Vancouver, British Columbia. Another postcard was mailed to relatives at home. 1974 June 28 – Harbour & Skyline, Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada
Dear Aunt Margaret, Uncle Jim & Aunt Emily. "Just thought you would like to be reminded of Nanaimo and all its happy memories. We are on the BC Ferry. Queen of Prince Rupert to Vancouver Is, Kelsey Bay & then bus to Victoria. We flew to Edmonton, White Horse. Train to Skagway, Alaska. Ferry to Prince Rupert. This is a beautiful ride. Weather not so good but sun comes out every once in a while. Love to you all. Earl & Jeannette"

She played the piano. Some years after Earls death she went to live at the Bethany Home in Unionville, Ontario. Her Uncle Tom and Aunt Gertie also went to live there. She lived until she was 89 years old. They are buried in the York Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario.5
