George G. Whipple was born 4-1-1832 in New York the last child of Amos W. and Mary Ann (Rice) Whipple.

It is not known when the family first arrived in Michigan or where they first settled.

On 12-25-1867 in Mason, MI he married Mary Jane (Peck) Steele. The widow of Amos Steele, Jr. who died in the Civil War. George was 34 and Mary 31. It appears this was George’s first marriage. Mary had one child, Lloyd,with Amos Steele.

Mary Jane died 1-1-1874 during childbirth. Nothing has been found on the baby. It is assumed it died also. This would have been George’s child.

On 2-2-1876 in Williamston, MI George married Agnes Watkins. George was 40 and Agnes 30. This was the first marriage for Agnes. The name Mary and the name Agnes are both used when referring to this wife.

Between this marriage and 1880 George and Agnes moved to Kansas.

He died in Williamston 2-26-1902. He is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery Mason, MI on Lot 122 owned by Mary Jane’s father. Mary Jane was originally buried there also but was later moved to Lot 73 with her first husband Amos Steele, Jr.

Mary Agnes Whipple died 12-20-1919 in San Francisco, CA. At this time it is not known where she is buried.
