B. Franklin Coulter, 75, a former head of the food department at Armstrong World Industries, died Thursday at Lancaster General Hospital after an illness of one year. A resident of 221 E. Liberty St., he was the husband of the late Catharine I. Weidley Coulter, who died in March 1987. A former chef, Coulter retired from Armstrong's food department in 1975. After retiring, he worked 10 years at Adelphia Seafood of Lancaster Inc. He was a member of the Andrew Hershey Lodge 761, Free and Accepted Masons; the Lancaster Lodge of Perfection; the Harrisburg Consistory; the Zembo Temple, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine; the Lancaster County Shrine Club; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Lancaster Forest 27; Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 299; and the Fraternal Order of Police, Red Rose Lodge 16. He was also a member of Ross Street United Methodist Church. Born in Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late George W. and Mary Walton Coulter. He is survived by two sons, John F., York, and Richard E., Lancaster; a daughter, Joyce E., wife of Martin Waltman, Lancaster; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, George, Lancaster; and two sisters, Edith Snyder, Lancaster, and Marie, wife of Robert Brandt, Mount Joy.
