Anna Jean (Wade) Wolf was a "wife, mother, homemaker, friend and artist", age 93, of Grand Junction, Colorado.
She died at home, June 22, 2014. Services will be conducted Thursday, June 26, 2014, 3 pm, at the Veteran Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be placed in a vault beside her departed husband, SM SGT George D. Wolf, US Air Force. They were married January 31, 1943, in Denver, Colorado.
Anna Jean, went to North High School in Denver. After school, she started doing work for the nuns at St. Anthony Hospital, near Sloan Lake Denver.
During WWII, Anna Jean worked nights making tracer bullets for the military, at the Federal Center, west of Denver. She later worked for the Tammen Co., at the Miller Stockman's building, in Denver, as a silk screen artist. She stopped working after her youngest child was born.
Anna Jean's hobbies were gardening and oil painting. Over the years, she painted many landscapes. She sold some of them at different art galleries in Colorado, including Estes Park. She always had beautiful gardens and grown rose bushes that towered 4 to 5 feet high. Anna Jean, also enjoyed music, movies, reading, and spending time with her family.
Anna Jean, moved to Grand Junction, CO., with her husband, from the Denver area, after the children were grown. Born in Denver, CO., as a twin to a brother, she was the daughter of John Savage Wade II and Anna Elida Carlson. Her father was from Denton, Texas. He first worked as a cattle driver and drove cattle from Texas to Nebraska & Colorado, until marrying. After marrying, he worked and retired for the Railway Express Agency, out of Denver, CO. He worked on the narrow gauge train, that went to Fairplay frequently. Her mother lived in Greeley, Colorado, before marrying, but was born in Nebraska. The Carlsons came to America in the 1890's, from Steninge, Sweden.
In addition to Anna Jean's parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings; her husband; and her son, Steven Wolf.
Survivors include two sons: David Wolf, of Johnstown, and Dale (Linda) Wolf, of Clifton; daughter, Gail (Earl) Copeland, of Whitewater; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
