Mary Ann Abeel Williamson's Obituary:

"Died on the 29th of April, in this City, Mary Ann Abeel, the wife of Douw D. Williamson, Esq., aged 73 years. Her family named Abeel is that of one of the early and more respectable Dutch families in this City. The Rev. John N. Abeel, who for many years was one of the pastors of the Collegiate Church...died in 1812...(mentions a nephew as David Abeel, the only brother of Mrs. Williamson)... Mr. and Mrs. Williamson were married in new Brunswick, N.J. in 1810...In 1851, a servere domestic affliction occured. Their son, George R., with his wife and two children had taken passage to Albany on the steamboat Reindeer. During the day, an explosion occured, which caused the death of a considerable number, amonst whom were Mr. and Mrs. Williamson and their eldest child...During the last two or three years of her life, domestic bereavements occured in the death of two sons (Nicholas and Edwin) and of grandchildren..."
