DAVIS, JAMES LOWELL "Bud"; age 90; of Rochester Hills; died Thursday, February 14, 2013. He was born August 24, 1922, in Monica, KY to the late Willie and Amanda (Creech) Davis. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army, the 29th Infantry having served during W.W. II. He was part of the 2nd wave to invade Normandy, fought at Omaha Beach and was awarded several medals including a ribbon with 4 bronze Battle Stars, the Good Conduct Ribbon, the bronze Arrowhead and the Purple Heart after being wounded in August of 1944. He and his family were faithful and long time members of St. John Lutheran Church and he retired from General Motors Corp. after 34 years of faithful service. On August 20, 1955, he was united in marriage to Christa Marie Horn; she preceded Jim in death on October 11, 2010, after 55 years of marriage. He was the proud father of Alan (Cheryl) Davis of Columbiaville and Linda LaBlanc of Holland. Devoted grandfather of Jason and Michael Davis, Bebe, Alex, James and Kurt LaBlanc and the late Brian James Davis. Also surviving is his great granddaughter, Krista, and his two brothers Harold (Verna) Davis and Wayne (Mary) Davis. A Memorial Service in Celebration of the Life of Jim Davis and his entry into Life Eternal will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1011 W. University Drive in Rochester, the Rev. Marc Schwichtenberg, officiating with inurnment to follow in Christian Memorial Cemetery in Rochester Hills. His family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12 Noon until the time of Service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Jim's name to the St. John Lutheran Church and School Foundation. Arrangements were entrusted to PIXLEY FUNERAL HOME of Rochester.
