"After a long illness Mrs. Esther Lee passed away Friday morning, September 6, 1912, at her home in Mt. Vision. Mrs. Lee was born in Pittsfield, in March, 1833, the daughter of Joshua and Lucy R. Whistan Carey. When a child she with her parents moved to Morris, residing there until eighteen years ago, when they moved to Mt. Vision. In 1854 she was married to John Lee. To them were born three children, a boy, dying in childhood and two daughters, one growing to womanhood and then dying, the other married Albert Straight and has always lived at the parental home. The funeral was attended Sunday. Her pastor, the Rev. E. L. Jeffrey officiating. Fine selections were sung by a quartette from the Methodist Episcopal church of Mt. Vision. Thomas Green, C. E. Lane, Monroe Field and I. J. Keyes, relatives of the family, acted as bearers. She was laid to rest beside the husband and children. Relatives in attendance were: Morell Lee and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Shepherd of Burlington, Mrs. Dennis Aldrich of Morris, Mrs. A. E. Walling of Oneonta and Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Field of Hartwick. Friends from away were: Mr. and Mrs. John Jacobs and sons, Klyne and Karl, of Oneonta; Mrs. Curt Champlin and Mrs. Margaret Puffenberger of Cooperstown, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Straight and Mrs. Charles Straight and son of Laurens, Julian Gardner and Miss Hattie Arnold of Oneonta."
