Lillian H. Saffert, 86, of Rice Lake died March 12 at Care Partners. A Mass of Christian Burial was Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jim Powers officiating and burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation was Thursday at Jarocki Funeral Home, with a prayer service, and at the church for 1 hour before the services.

Mrs. Saffert was born March 7, 1920 to Frank and Mary (Svacina) Roubal in Rice Lake. She attended Dobie Catholic School and graduated from Rice Lake High School. In 1938, Mrs. Saffert attended beauty culture school in Milwaukee where she received her certification as a beautician and then returned to Rice Lake. On Nov. 25, 1939, she married Florian J. Saffert in Dobie and continued working as a beautician. In the early 1960s, Mrs. Saffert became part owner of the Charm Beauty Shop in Rice Lake with Delores Larson. In 1970, Mrs. Saffert became the sole owner of the shop which she operated until her retirement. Mrs. Saffert enjoyed playing golf, sewing and playing cards.

She is survived by three daughters, Darlene Ramacher of Cedar, Minn., Cheryl Lang of Denver, Colo., and Luanne Kane of Minneapolis; a son, David of Alexandria, Va.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Saffert's husband, Florian, died in 2003.
