Officiant will be her son, James Larry Holly, M.D.

Irene graduated from Selma, LA High School in Grant Parish. She married Billy Dick Holly, Sr. on May 9, 1941 at Tioga, Louisiana. They were married over 64 years, separated only by his death in October 2005. Two sons were born to this union, William Richmond Holly, Jr. and James Larry Holly, M.D. They moved from Pineville to Natchitoches in the summer of 1950 following his job with Louisiana Power & Light Co and resided at the power station on Fish Hatchery Road until that residence burned, then moved to their current home on Blanchard Road.

Irene & Billy also brought two foster children, Wayne Kerry Snell, Sr. (Ana Morejon Snell) and Jennifer “Ginger” Kaye Barker Spoontz, into their home.

Irene passion was being a housewife and mother. She and her husband, Billy, grew one of the best gardens in the parish, harvesting and canning, and sharing, its produce. Irene was known for her homemade 21 day Virginia Chunk pickles and jellies, Mayhaw, Muscadine, Elderberry, and Pear and Fig preserves, which she shared with all. If it had an edible berry she could make a great jelly out of it. She was a giver. She was a teen ager during the Great Depression and knew what hardship and doing without meant. She would give to anyone in need, be it with physical help, food, or money. She made it a point to be home waiting for their two sons, with snacks, when they arrived each afternoon on the school bus. She has been a member of 1st Baptist Church, Natchitoches since 1950.
Irene and Billy loved to travel throughout the United States starting off camping in RV parks in the back of their Suburban. Later, they would camp with their travel trailer in tow. They visited almost every state in the union, including Alaska, only having missed Hawaii.

Irene was predeceased by her parents, her husband, seven siblings, two of whom were unnamed infants, Riley Woodruff (Maudie), Willie Woodruff (Frankie), A.B. “Buddy” Woodruff, Esther Woodruff Bradford (Hiram), and Jossie Woodruff Green, and nieces Helen Bradford Williams Jackson (Ellis/Johnny), Virginia Green, and their foster son, Wayne.
