John O'Brien: Cenotaph, original burial

John's parentage is uncertain because of the commonality of his name. Family records are sourced, as he is my maternal Great Great Grandfather - the father of my mother's grandfather.

John married Mary Gallagher about 1829, probably in Ireland; because, their first known child, Michael, is recorded as born in Ireland on his death record and certificate of death.

John and Mary both immigrated from Ireland about 1832. Their second child was born in Philadelphia, where they resided for the remainder of their lives.

They had 5 known sons and one daughter. Four of their sons died in the prime of their lives, two being Civil War Union Soldiers. Their daughter, Mary, has yet to be found; she may have died young.

Their son, John O'Brien, is the only one whose family records have been preserved, to this researcher's knowledge. He migrated to Utah Territory prior to 1863.

This "John", the younger, is my maternal great grandfather, the father of my mother's father, Jonathan Silas O'Brien and his history and progeny have been well documented.

John O'Brien the elder, here memorialized, was reportedly originally interred at Lafayette Cemetery, which is defunct. A descendant has since advised that he learned, through telephone calls to the various cemeteries, that John's remains were moved, along with others relocated, to Rosedale Memorial Park, "Lafayette Section", at Bensalem, Bucks County, PA.
