Dale Delbert Denison, 75

Dale Delbert Denison, 75, of Atlantic died Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb. He was a resident of 803 Locust Street in Atlantic. Dale was the son of Andrew and Petrea Jensena Jensen Denison and he was born July 13, 1923, on a farm north of Anita. He attended the rural schools in the Audubon area. He helped his father farm southeast of Exira and worked at the G.F. Factory in Anita. In 1942, he moved to Gray to help his father as a farm hand and later worked in the Marne and Atlantic areas. His marriage to Mary Jean Reeves took place on Dec. 28, 1944, at the United Methodist Church in Anita. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Anita and Massena areas. They moved to Atlantic in 1959, where he worked at the Skelly Service Station for Lloyd Worthington and continued in the service station business for 35 years. He work at Templeman Oil and later started Denison Oil, with the help of his sons and grandson. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in 1934 in Exira, confirmed on April 16, 1939 at the Exira Lutheran Church, and later was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jean Denison; two sons, Roger Denison and wife, Donna; and Ronald Denison; one grandson, Kevin Denison and wife Denice; one granddaughter, Kerri Denison and friend, Reggie Hawkins all of Atlantic; two great grandchildren, Chrystal Lee Pettinger of Red Oak and Spenser Hawkins of Atlantic; three step-great-grandchildren, Zachary Johnson; and Cattie and Alan Brown; one sister, Arlene McCuen of LeRoy, Ill; tree sisters-in-law, Shirley Parmley and her husband, Charles, of Brayton: Ruth Hoyt of Siloam Springs, Ark.: and Shirley Reeves of Atlantic; one brother-in-law, Lowell Kline of Indianola; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Donald Dale Denison in 1949 and Rodney Lynn Denison in 1992, two sisters, Erma Kline and Mary Ann Denison; also two brothers-in-law, Glen McCuen and Gail Reeves.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita. There will be a visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic.
