Anita Child, 3, Killed By REA Pole

Tragedy struck the community north of Anita Tuesday morning when Donald Dale Denison, 3 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Denison, was instantly killed when the light pole that had been unloaded in the yard last Saturday, started to roll as the child was playing on or near it. The pole started to move and rolled over the child from his feet to his chest, where it stopped. The chest of the child was crushed. The accident occurred about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Denison home 5 1/2 miles north of Anita. Mrs. Denison was at school, where she is a teacher, at Grant No. 3, and Miss Velma Parker has been staying with the children for several weeks. Miss Parker had been hanging up clothes and had gone to the kitchen for something when the younger brother came running to the door and made it known something was wrong. Miss Parker tried to lift the pole off the child, but had to call for help and when assistance arrived the child was dead,
Donald Dale was born October 27th, 1945 at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Reeves, north of Anita. He is survived by his parents, one younger brother and his paternal grandparents, mr. and Mrs. Andrew Denison and Mr. and Mrs. Reeves.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran church in Anita with the Rev M. Dake in charge Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
