John P. Casalaspro, 25, of West Brighton, a plumber's assistant who will be remembered for his artistic talent and love of the outdoors, died Friday in Bayonne, New Jersey.

Born and raised in West Brighton, he also lived in Rosebank and Grasmere before returning to his native community.

Mr. Casalaspro attended Port Richmond High School and earned his GED certificate.

He had been working as a plumber's assistant.

Mr. Casalaspro loved the outdoors and being active. He enjoyed snowboarding, fishing and playing soccer.

A talented artist, he enjoyed painting and drawing, and had displayed his work in local art shows, his family said.

Surviving are his brother, Anthony; his sister, Jennifer Casalaspro; and his paternal grandparents, Tony and Ann Casalaspro.

The funeral will be held on Friday from the Martin Hughes Funeral Home, Concord, with a mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Rosebank.
Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
