BELVIDERE - Francis Albert "Bud" Blackford, 83, a lifelong Belvidere resident, died at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, in his home. Born April 5, 1916, in Belvidere to Albert and Daisy Heywood Blackford. Married Doris Palmer Rounds in Belvidere on Jan. 6, 1952. Employed by Shappert Engineering Co. for 35 years before retiring. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Member of Boone County Farm Bureau and a 50-year member of American Legion Boone Post 77. Survivors include wife, Doris; daughters, Wendy Huss of Grand Rapids, Mich., Judy Puente of Las Vegas, Donna (Garry) Curtis of Hastings, Minn., and Juanita (Gayle) Voigts of Beloit, Wis.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, William (Velma) Blachford of Capron and Albert (Eva) Blachford and Donald (Barbara) Blachford of Belvidere; and sisters, Theo L. Hildebrasnd of Belvidere, Lorraine Blachford of Miller, S.D., Berneitta Kays of Bradenton Beach, Fla., Alberta (Gerald) Bowen of DeForest, Wis., and Margaret Kariainen of Trout Creek, Mich. Predeceased by parents; three brothers, Eli Blachford and two in infancy; and sister, Jane Sullivan.
Services at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30, in Belvidere Funeral Home, 203 Logan Ave., with the Rev. William Westlund, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
