Esther was the daughter of William Edgar Powell and Lucy Ann (Miller) Powell. On May 24 , 1924 she married Ernest Marion Ewing and he preceded her in death on 03/20/1965. She then married Russell J. Morris Sr. on 01/01/1967 and he passed away on 07/01/1987.She is entombed at Sunset Memory Gardens with her second husband , Russell J. Morris Sr.

She is my husbands great-grandmother (Robert Glen Newton). She was a very kind , sweet and warm hearted lady. That this world was fortunate to have for 97 1/2 years ! She passed away at 3:47 pm on March 22, 2006 in Kokomo Indiana at Windsor Estates Nursing Home.

Esther L. Morris, 97, Kokomo, died 3:47 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Windsor Estates Health and Rehab Center. She was born July 26, 1908, in Tipton County, a daughter of William Edgar and Lucy Ann (Miller) Powell. She first married Ernest Ewing in 1924, and he preceded her in death in 1964. She later married Russell Morris in 1966 and he preceded her in death in 1987.

She retired June 28, 1968, from Delco Electronics.

She was a member of Greentown Wesleyan Church and the Delco Del Ray Club. She enjoyed crocheting and ceramics.

She is survived by a daughter, Wilma Huffman, Greensburg; two stepdaughters, Diana and husband Frank McCoy, Kokomo, Dixie and husband Roger Larson, Wisconsin; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Eulalia Newton; a grandson, Sam Newton; two stepchildren, Betty Broo and Jim Morris; four brothers, Alphie, Monroe, Raymond and John David; and two sisters, Lela Ross and Mildred Hite.

Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 S. Webster St., with the Rev. Paul Boss officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Garden Mausoleum. Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to Greentown Wesleyan Church.
