Karl J. Chapman of Rockford, age 72, passed away into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 24, 2014. Karl was born on November 13, 1941 to Marvin and Jeanette (Horger), he graduated from Dearborn High School and Ferris State University. On November 16, 1963 he married Kathleen McKinney. He worked for Grand Rapids Label Co. for 40 years and after his retirement he worked with his GFS family for 6 years. Surviving are his wife of over 50 years Kathy; his children Kara (Robert) Quick and Kevin (Crescent) Chapman; his grandchildren Heather Quick, Bobby Quick, Rachel Maxwell, Matthew Quick, Laura Maxwell and Amanda Osborn; a brother Gary (Sandra) Chapman, two sisters Linda (Bruce) Woodburn and Kathie Heimlick, two sisters-in- law; Doreen McKinney and Monica (Paul) Gardner; also many nieces and nephews. We are blessed to have Karl for 5 years and 9 months after receiving the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Dr. Martin Bury and his Lacks Cancer Center family were very special to him and they called him their “Miracle Man”. Karl was a 14 gallon blood donor, a weekend manager at the Ronald McDonald House, loved to camp and travel with his Kent Roadrunner family. He was very proud of his family. Karl and Kathy loved to travel. They traveled to all fifty states including Hawaii once, and Alaska twice. They also made a transatlantic ocean trip to Barcelona, Spain. Everyone that knew Karl knew of his love for ice cream.
