Lawrence J. Barber, 44, formerly a prominent real estate man of Portland and owner of extensive property interests here, was killed yesterday near Los Angeles in an automobile accident, according to a telegram received by Carlos Marsters of the Portland realty board.
No details of the accident were given in the message, which was from Floyd Bilyeu, formerly connected with the state fish and game commission here.
Mr. Barber had not been a resident of Portland for about a year and a half. In 1910 he organized the Northwestern Trust company.
One daughter, who lives in Los Angeles, survives. His wife and a daughter died several years ago.
