Mary was born July 29, 1925, in Ivaton, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Romie and Elsie (née Mooney) Griffith. She was a proud high school graduate who left her small-town roots of West Virginia coal country to work for the FBI in Washington, D.C., during World War II.
Although she was offered the opportunity to continue her career after the war, she missed her family, chose to return home and married Arthur R. Wagoner on July 27, 1946.
Mary moved to Perrysville in 1952 and was a member of Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening and quilting.
Mary is survived by two sons, Larry Wagoner of Pickens, South Carolina, and Russell (Cheryl) Wagoner of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; one daughter, Betty (Norman) Dahl of Perrysville; seven grandchildren, Jason Dahl, James Dahl, Kevin (Tracy) Wagoner, Alicia DeFranco, Jessica (Nate) Williams, Melissa Edwards and Calvin Edwards; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Rome (Barb) Griffith of South Charleston, West Virginia.; and two sisters, Ruth LeBlanc of Titusville, Florida, and Minnie Palmer of Gap Mills, West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, Arthur Wagoner, on April 24, 2014; one son, Arthur Wayne Wagoner; three brothers, Bill, Charles and Eugene Griffith; and one sister, Sarah Harless.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with Don Highman, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at Lindsey Funeral Home.
