Badger records he was a citizen of the state and that he had been promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant prior to his death "from Orderly Sergeant to 2 Lieut." They also reported his date of death as 19 April. The U.S., Registers of Deaths of Volunteers, 1861-1865 records his rank as a "Lieut." Lastly, the 1890 Veterans Schedules of the U.S. Federal Census for Fredric M Badger related to a pension for his widow reports his rank as "2d Lieut."
