Esther was born on January 1, 1908 to Abraham and Elizabeth Hokana (nee Isola). She was the second youngest of twelve children. She grew up on a farm in Moe Township Minnesota (close to Kensington, Minnesota.)Her father was one of the first homesteaders in this area after emingrating from Finland. She moved to Illinois and worked for the Mars Candy Co. She met her husband, Christen. They were married for 67 years until his death in 1998. Esther had five children Mary, Christen, Jr. (Buddy), Judy (who died in infancy), Clifford and David. Esther was a housewife and in later years worked for Marshal Field, Co. in Chicago in the woman's clothing department. Upon retirement, she and Chris moved to Sun City, Arizona. Esther is survived by her children, grandchildren James, Michael, Jennifer, Jessica, Jeremy and Jamie Lee and four great grandchildren. Esther was a loving, devoted and caring mother, wife and friend.
