Duane Maynard Aberg, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at his home in Red Oak, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Wayne Boze Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2014, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Duane was born in Austin, Minnesota, to the late Marcus and Dorothy (Potter) Aberg. He graduated from Austin High School in 1949. He proudly served his country in the Korean War. On March 7, 1960, Duane married Marceline Marie Woolsey. He worked at Hormel Meat Packing Company for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. Duane enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, golfing, camping and playing bridge. He was a big sports fan and loved the Vikings, Twins, North Stars and the Gophers. In 1982, he and Marceline moved to Red Oak, Texas, and were members of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia; his brothers, Kenneth and Robert; his son-in-law, Alan Read; and many friends.

Survivors include his wife, Marceline; daughter, Robyn Read and her boyfriend, Stanley Lewis; son, David Aberg and his wife, Jane; grandchildren, Bobby Read and his wife, Krystle, and Jessica Aberg and her fiancé, Charles Whitfill; his great-grandchildren, Cody and Charisma Read; and several nieces, nephews and many good friends.
