Mrs. Elizabeth Acker was taken by death at the home, 949 Iowa street, at 8:20 o'clock Wednesday morning. Although ailing for several years, her condition did not become serious until two weeks ago.
The funeral will be held Friday morning from the home to St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock. Burial will be made in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
Mrs. Acker was born in Freeport, Ia [sic], and had made her home in this city for the past forty-three years. She was married Sept. 1, 1886 to George F. Acker, former constable of this city, who passed away six years ago.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Harry Holz, and Mrs. Olive Thelen, both of this city, a son Alphonse G. Acker, Dubuque, three grandchildren, five sisters, Mrs. Pat Wall, Mrs. George Hively, and Mrs. Mary Trunk, all of Freeport, Mrs. Anna Kenniger, Ackley, Ia., Mrs. Frank Hensing, Iowa Falls, a brother, John Oppolad[sic], Sioux Falls, S.D.
Mrs. Acker was a devoted wife and mother, a kind neighbor, and her innumerable friends were deeply grieved when they heard of her death.
She was a devout Catholic and attended St. Mary's church. She was affiliated with the Rosary society of that church and the American Legion auxiliary.
