Survivors include his wife, the former Juanita Lackey; step-mother, Josie Caudill Austin; four brothers, Woodrow, Paul and Ray Austin of Paintsville and James Austin of Warsaw, Ind.; six sisters, Victoria Blevins of Warsaw, Inc,; Dimple McCarty of London, Ohio, Francis Morgan of Columbus, Ohio, and Goldie Litton, Dosha Austin and Judy Austin of Paintsville.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, July 14 in the Paintsville Pentacostal Church of Christ with Cline Salyers and Melvin Blantonthe officiating ministers. The Johnson County Historical Society website lists Hansford as being buried in the Preston-Penix Cemetery. Their explanation for the name change states: "In Johnson County Cemeteries Vol-4 this cemetery is named the "Preston Cemetery."
