Mr. Johnson passed away Saturday evening, October 16, 1999 at Hilltop Manor in Roscommon, MI. Age 92 years. He was born May 2, 1907 in Akron, MI. Mr. Johnson was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He was retired from General Motors Corporation as a Tool & Diemaker.
He is survived by his daughters: Eleanor (Bob) Cates and Eileen (Allen)Currie, all of Florida; his grandchildren; Jim Hawkins of Bay City, Deborah (Jerry) Kelso of Higgins Lake, MI and Robert Cates of Florida; nine great grandchildren; three sisters; Velma Sutherland, Amy Beach and Amber Nettle; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Edith M. Johnson in 1995 and two daughters, Carol Johnson and Phyllis Hawkins.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Andreas H. Teich with private internment in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call the church where the family will be present on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Memorial envelopes for Messiah Lutheran Church will be available at the church on Wednesday.
