Myrtle E (Waite) Anderson (sic), 87, of 18 Columbus Ave, died Sunday at her home.
She was the wife of Soren T Anderson, founder of Soren T Anderson and Son, Inc, a contract painting firm which has operated in Northampton since 1916. She and her husband were married for 61 years.
Born Sept 8, 1895 in Northampton, Mrs Anderson was the daughter of the late George and Ida E (Curtis) Waite.
In 1914 she graduated from the Smith Agricultural School, now the Smith Vocational High School.
She was a member of the Edwards Congregational Church. Mrs. Anderson was the former secretary of the Betty Allen chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Northampton Women's Club. She was a charter member and former president of the American Post 28 Auxiliary.
She belonged to the South Side Club.
Besides her husband, she is survived by four sons, Niels T, Robert T, Myron T and Howard T; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Edwards Church.
The family will receive friends at a reception at the church following the service.
The burial will be in the Bridge Street Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
The Pease Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial gifts may be made to the DAR scholarship award fund.
