Miss Catharine Hopkins, a life-long resident of Cortland, died on Sunday at the home of a sister, Mrs. Mary Treadwell, in New York city. She had been in poor health for many months with the infirmities of her age, and went to New York on Dec. 27th last in hopes that she would be benefited by the change, but failed to improve. The remains will be brought here on the 4:51 train Tuesday for burial and the funeral will be held at the house, 172 Groton-ave. on Wednesday at 2 o’clock. Burial will occur in the family lot in the Cortland Rural cemetery.

Miss Hopkins, one of a family of fourteen children, was the daughter of the late Hiram and Catharine Hopkins and was born 71 years ago in the house now 172 Groton-ave. which has always been her home. She is survived by a brother, Edward Hopkins, of Brooklyn, N. Y.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Treadwell, at whose home she died, and Miss Hortense Hopkins, who had been her constant companion for many years. Her twin sister, Miss Margaret S. Hopkins, died on Nov. 3, 1913.

Miss Hopkins had been a member of the First Presbyterian church since 1871.
