Barbara died this morning, October 30, 2014 in Asheville at the John F. Keever Solace Center after a brave battle with breast cancer. She was only 54 years old.

Barbara will be sorely missed by her parents, Pat and Dora Nations; her husband of 33 years, Terry Ashe, son Graham Tyler Ashe, her nephew, Josh Williams, and her many friends. She had worked at Western Carolina University in the financial aid office and had retired from her position earlier this year. Barbara was a member of Serenity Baptist Church in Bryson City. She was an excellent cook and she loved flower gardening.

Barbara was preceded in death by her twin sister Brenda and an infant sister, Connie.

I am deeply saddened by her passing but feel fortunate to have known Barbara for several years. She was a good and loyal friend to my daughter Kim, my granddaughter Alexis, and a strong education advocate.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Max Cochran officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday night from 5:00-7:00 pm, two hours prior to the services. Burial will be in the Queen-Conner Cemetery on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 2, at 3 pm.

Appalachian Funeral Services and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the John F. Keever Solace Center,
P.O. Box 5779 Asheville, NC 28813.
