Advocate, The (Baton Rouge, LA) - Monday, March 2, 2009 Deceased Name: Drummond, L.C.
A retired operating engineer with Boh Bros. Construction for approximately 30 years, and a resident of Baker, he died at 10:10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Lane Regional Medical Center. He was 85 and a native of Lincoln County, Miss. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Rd., on Monday, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at the funeral home on Tuesday, after 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Mark Lambert. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Lambert Drummond, of Baker; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda and Mack McKinney, of Delhi, Cynthia Blalock, of Baker, Candi and James Byron Lee, of Central, and Sandra and Jeffery French, of Pride; a sister, Hilda Nations, of Monticello, Miss.; 17 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, C.J. and Mamie Townsend Drummond; brother, J.P. "Pete" Drummond; sister, Veda Walker; son-in-law, Hilton Henry Blalock; and grandson, John Wesley Blalock. Pallbearers will be Brandon Bailey, Jared Lee, Chris McKinney, Michel Blalock, James B. Lee, and Jeffery French. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Nielson, Reed Travis, Brian Kennedy, Randol "Mack" McKinney. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having received two Bronze Stars and two Silver Stars. The family would like to thank Dr. Gene Thompson, 1st floor staff and the emergency room staff at Lane Regional Medical Center for their help and care during his illness.
