Betty J. Kinkaid, age 80, of Gerlaw, Illinois passed away at Galesburg Cottage Hospital on Thursday October 30, 2014 at 12:30 am. Betty was born on February 19, 1934 in Monmouth, Illinois and is the daughter of David and Alta L. Ryner Smith. She was raised in Little York, Illinois where she attended local school and graduated from Little York High School with the class of 1952. Betty married Wayne L. Kinkaid on July 3, 1952 at Fall Creek in Henderson County, and he preceded her in death on September 12, 2009. Betty began work as a telephone operator in Monmouth and then was a secretary for the Illinois Bankers Life Insurance Company in Monmouth, IL. She later work at Smolers/Formfit as seamstress and then was employed at the Monmouth Pottery. Betty later baby sat babies for many family members and friends. She is a member of the High Point Gun Club and an avid Cub's Fan. She most enjoyed working out in the yard. She is survived by two daughters, Carol J (Randy) Devlin of Galesburg, Illinois and Caren (Steve) Stanley of Alliance, Nebraska. One son survives, James (Stephanie) Kinkaid of Gerlaw, Illinois also survives. There are eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Two sisters survive, Annie Snell of Galva, IL and Myra Brown of Stronghurst, Illinois are surviving. She is preceded in her death by her parents, husband, one daughter Connie, one brother, and one sister.

Services: A funeral service for Betty J. Kinkaid will be at 11:00 am on Monday November 3, 2014 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. Her family plans visitation with their family present at the funeral Monday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for the Gerlaw Christian Church.
