Company F 133 Reg PA Infantry 1861 - 1865Samuel Lamer, aged 79 years, a well known resident of Uniontown, near Cherry Tree, passed away at his home Sunday evening at 5:15 o'clock.
Death was due to gangrene, from which he had been suffering for two months. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Jane Lamer and these children: Clair at home; Dalvin of Akron,Ohio ; Blair of Emeigh; Mrs. Mary Fulton of Indiana; Mrs. Cora Campbell of Barnesboro and Mrs. Flossie McMillon of Gipsy. Mr. Lamer was a veteran of the Civil War. The funeral services were conducted at his home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment was made at Stiffler cemetery. [McDowell]

Before the Antietam Campaign:
Enrolled 8 August at Ebensburg, PA and mustered into Captain Jones' Company - soon after Company F of the 133rd Pennsylvania Infantry - on 15 August 1862 at Camp Curtin, Harrisburg. He was 22 years old at enrollment for 9 months' service. Very soon after mustering, he was among the men of his company who petitioned their Lieutenant (and later the Colonel and the Governor) to have him removed for incompetence in favor of one of their own1.

In the Antietam Campaign:
He was "left at hospital near Sharpsburg, Md Oct 30 1862", and was marked as "absent" on the muster roll of his Company for the remainder of his term.

The remainder of the War:
He mustered out of the regiment at its expiration of service on 26 May 1863 at Harrisburg, PA.
