He was survived by his wife, Delphia Sipple Abbott (married in 1928); his sons, Charles Abbott of Somerset, Kentucky, Ray Abbott of Wheeldon, Kentucky, Henry Abbott of Science Hill, Kentucky, Willie Abbott of Louisville, Kentucky, and Sherman Abbott of Louisville, Kentucky; his daughters, Bertha Morgan of Louisville, Kentucky, Eliza Vaught of Louisville, Kentucky, and Julia Britt of Louisville, Kentucky; his sisters, Julia Keeney of Alcalde, Lula Jerrell of Indiana, Helen Sims of Indiana, and Ruth Hart of Indiana; his brother, George Abbott of Somerset, Kentucky; three step-daughters; 24 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Abbott and Eliza (Phillips) Abbott; and his first wife, Anna (Mask) Abbott (married in 1899).
Funeral services were held at the Wheeldon Baptist Church with Reverend Clifford Randall officiating.
