ROGERS - Joseph Francis, aged 94, formerly of Commack and Rosedale, NY, died on October 20*, 2014 at the Long Island State Veterans Home, Stony Brook, NY. Predeceased by his beloved wife Bernida, "Bee".

Member of the Greatest Generation, he served during WWII in the Navy. Retired from the Brooklyn Navy Yard after 25 years and became a teacher in NYC.

Son of the late James Augustus and Marguerite Rogers.

Devoted father of James, Mary Nummelin (Kari), John (Stephanie), Ann, and the late Joseph. Adored grandfather of Caitlin, Sean, Kelly, Jack and Dylan.

Dearest brother of Eleanor Shaw, Clare, and the late James.

Services held at the M.A. Connell Funeral Home, Huntington Station, NY. Funeral Mass at Christ the King Church, Commack, NY. Interment at Calverton National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Long Island State Veterans Home, Stony Brook, NY in Joseph's name would be greatly appreciated.
