Clifford Aragon, 72, formerly of Grants, passed away on March 23, 2006, in an Albuquerque nursing home following a brief illness.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1933, in Grants to Prospero Aragon and Candelaria Montano Aragon.

Mr. Aragon was a member of St. Teresa de Avila Catholic Church, the VFW and the American Legion. He graduated from Grants High School and served 13 years in the U.S. Navy, including service during the Korean War. Following his service in the Navy, Mr. Aragon lived in the Ontario area of southern California, where he was employed with the Northrup Company in aviation manufacturing. In later years he returned to make Grants his home. Recently Mr. Aragon moved into an Albuquerque nursing home. He was remembered by family as a kind and loving brother, father and grandfather.

Mr. Aragon is survived by his son David Haney of Irving, Texas; his two daughters Debbie Tipps and husband Steve of Cash, Okla., and Tammy Aragon-Durrett of Irving, Texas; his three brothers Arthur Aragon and wife Priscilla of Grants, Fidel Aragon and wife Pat of El Paso, Texas, and Ben Aragon of Grants; his sister Pannie Aragon of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren Joey Hall and wife Kelly of Henniepin, Okla., Brad Hall of Irving, Texas, Alexis Durette of Irving, Texas, Steven Tipps of Cash, Okla., Christopher Tipps of Cash, Okla., Miranda Haney of South Dakota, Carrie Haney of South Dakota, Jeremey Haney of South Dakota and Aaron Haney of South Dakota; his great-grandchild Jacob Hall of Henniepin, Okla., and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents Prospero Aragon and Candelaria Montano Aragon; his brother Richard Aragon and his sister-in-law Patricia Aragon.

Visitation took place on Sunday, March 26, at 7 p.m. at St. Teresa de Avila Catholic Church in Grants. The Funeral Mass took place at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2006, at St. Teresa Catholic Church with Father Matthew Keller officiating. Interment, veteran's graveside services and Catholic graveside services followed at Grants Memorial Park in Grants. Veteran's graveside services were provided by members of the U.S. Navy honor guard.

Pallbearers were Brian Aragon, Walter Aragon, Paul Aragon, John Blacksher, Ben Aragon and Fidel Aragon.

Grants Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
