Dimondale
Age 84, died Monday, October 27, 2014, at home following a struggle with Parkinson's disease. Born October 17, 1930 in Iowa City, Iowa, he attended Sandhill Country School and St. Peter's School in Cosgrove, graduating from Cosgrove High School in 1948. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Virginia. Ivan received an honorable discharge after suffering a knee injury on a naval ship. In 1952 he married Norma Lou and raised a family. Ivan worked first at the Measurement Research Center and later at Westinghouse Learning Corporation in Iowa City. Ivan and Norma moved out to a tract of farmland near Tipton, Iowa in 1978, where they lived until they retired in 1988. He loved to fish camp all of his life, and for several year they traveled extensively, living in Florida, Arizona and Texas in the winters, and in Iowa and Michigan in the summers. They finally settled west of Lansing in 1995. Ivan and Norma enjoyed time with their sons and grandchildren over the next several years.
Surviving are his sons, Edward, Richad and David, and daughter-in-law, Deborah (Loewenberg); sisters, Virginia (Bross), Mary Ann (Waldschmidt) and brothers, William and James; three grandchildren, Sarah Ball Hakala, Joshua and Jacob Ball; three great-grandchildren, Owen, Emme and Lucy (Hakala).
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 815 Sparrow Ave., Lansing, MI 48910.
