Aaron was a Special Deputy for the B.I.A. and was killed in the line of duty on Cedar Hill, just outside of Clayton. In May 2009 his name was put on the Officers Down Memorial Wall in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma . His name was also put on the Indian Country Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Artesia , New Mexico. In Sept. 2011 the B.I.A. in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Officer Cunningham presented the family with a Plague,Star Quilt and an American Flag which had three shell casings in it. Also presented was an album of the ceremony at which the Indian Department accepted the flag, quilt and plague. In November 2112 the old Kiamichi River Bridge was changed to Aaron Harrison Scott Memorial Bridge.
