TUPELO – James Leon Smith, 60, died Friday, June 20, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Hospice in Tupelo after an extended illness. He was born in Grenada County on Feb. 16, 1954, to Leon and Agnes Willis Smith. He was a carpenter before becoming disabled.
Private family burial will take place in Priceville Cemetery. A memorial meal celebrating his life will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Auburn Community Center in the Auburn community. Everyone is invited to share this fellowship with the Smith families. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel assisted the family in their time of need.
He is survived by his mother, Agnes Willis Smith; two sons, Landon and Blake, of the Ashville, N.C., area; two brothers, Tommy Smith (Dyan) and Tim Smith (Shelia), all of Tupelo; a sister, Nita Johnson (Tom) of New Albany; and two grandchildren, Eleanor and Rileigh.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Smith.
