Cora was born in Taycheedah, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin in March of 1867. The fourth child to Darius and Ephemia (Dart) Northrop. In about 1883-4, the family moved to Plover, Pocahontas Co, Iowa. There she met Joseph Hilton whom she married in 1886. She was Joseph's second wife, his first wife, Alice, having passed away. Together, Joseph and Cora had five children in addition to his seven children from his first marriage. In 1900, the family moved to Skagit Co, Washington.
