Harbor Master G.W.L. ABBOT died at his residence yesterday morn. at the age of 75. Capt. Abbot had held the office of harbor master for many years. Though his strength has been failing for some time, the end came suddenly, for he was able to be out on the street only a day or two before his death. (Ibid)

In the 1871 Canada Census, ship captain William G.L.,54, born N.B., was living in St. Stephen, N.B. with Mary A., 50; seaman Burton, 18; and clerk Louis,16, all born in N.B.

Abbott, 37, native born is listed as a lodger with shop keeper Henry Owen in St. Stephen, as are lodgers Susannah Abbot, 42; Mary Ann Abbot, 30; and William Abbot, 34, who was in "Calefornia"; servant Jane Montgomery, 21; Charles Abbott, 7; and Burton Abbott, 3; and Maria Bridges, 12.

d. Boston, 1st inst., Samuel ABBOT, Esq. of St. Stephen (Charlotte Co.) N.B., age 67, many years Justice of Inferior Court of Common Pleas. His remains were brought to St. Stephen and interred with Masonic Honors on Sunday. (Saint John New Brunswick Courier, July 10, 1847)

George was the son of Samuel Abbott and Frances Burton.
