3 CHILDREN BURN TO DEATH WHEN PLAYING IN OLD AUTO
LILBOURN, Mo., Feb. 16 (AP) Three children, 3, 4 and 14 years old, were burned to death Saturday when they became trapped in a flaming junked automobile that had no inside door handles. The tragedy occurred on the rural Lilbourn farm of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Sartin, whose son, Richard, 3, and daughter, Jean, 4, perished in the fire. Mrs. Sartin's sister, Norma Jean Hessling, 14, was the other victim. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hessling. County coroner Leo Hedgepath said that Mrs. Sartin told him the children were playing in the car. Later, she said that she looked out the window of the home and saw the car afire. She rushed from the house, but found the children dead in the back seat. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
