Elton Noble Pennington was one of eight children born to Jesse Lafayette Pennington and Ocie Bell Mathis Pennington. His siblings are as follows:

Elton was drafted into the old Army Air Core at the age of twenty in 1942,serving 23 years of which most of that time was in food service.Elton finished his basic training and other field training and was assigned to the 351st Air Drom Sqdn. 4th Combat Carge Group and was sent to the CBI. He spent most of that time in India and Burma. The squadrons flew the hump over into China hauling suplies until the war was over and the group broke up and Elton was sent to the base near Austin. Remaining in food service, he was then sent to Guam for two years. After returning to the states to the 3545th Food Service Sqdn. at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas. From there he was sent to the 922nd Air Craft Control and Warning Sqdn. at Cartwright, Labordor. There he was in charge of all food service. Returning in late 1955 to Sheppard Air Force Base he was then asked to cross train into Water Supply and Sanitation in the 50th Air Base Group.After finishing all necessary training into this field, Elton was assigned to the 50th Tactical Fighter Wing of the 17th Air Force in Hahn, Germany for three years. He then returned back to Salina, Kansas and was assigned to the 310th Food Service Sqdn.22nd Air Division. There he retired from the Air Force after 23 years of service and returned to Wichita Falls, Texas where he had been offered a job as a water Analyst in the Old Jasper street Water Plant. Elton worked that job until his retirement of seventeen and a half years of service.
