Anna Simmons Rites Saturday

Newkirk - Funeral services for Mrs. Anna E. Simmmons, 92, who died Thursday in the Newkirk Nursing Home, will be held in the family home of Mrs. H.O. Gowey, on W Fifth St., Newkirk, Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. J.M. Banther, pastor of the Baptist church in Newkirk will officiate, and burial will be in Newkirk cemetery under direction of the Stahl Funeral Service.

Born in Atlanta, Ga., April 19, 1870, Mrs. Simmons moved to Kansas in 1872 and located in Mitchell County. She was married to John W. Simmons, Sept. 20, 1888, at Beloit, Kansas where they made their home several years ago moving to Kay County. Simmons died in 1919.

Survivors include one son, Herman Simmons, Newkirk, three daughters, Mrs. H.O. Gowey, Newkirk, Mrs. Uel Elliott, Tulsa, and Mrs. Austin Palmer, Okanogan, Wash., three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
